Expanding the boundaries of painting through 49 works
Art Cube 2R2 will host a solo exhibition by Christoph Ruckhäberle, an artist representing contemporary German art, from the 26th until April 17th.
This exhibition showcases 49 works by the artist, who has built a unique plastic language traversing painting, prints, and sculptural experimentation. It focuses intensely on his body of work, which has experimentally arranged the basic elements of painting—dots, lines, planes, and colors.
Ruckhäberle, a graduate of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (HGB Leipzig), is one of the artists representing the New Leipzig School. He has expanded the structure of the canvas through repetition, superposition, and juxtaposition. The canvases, where geometric abstraction and decorative rhythm coexist, do not remain on the plane but extend into spatial sensation and physical experience.
In the exhibition space, visitors can witness how painting functions not merely as an image but as a ‘field of experience’ through the rhythm created by linear abstraction, intense colors, and repeating patterns. The plastic elements shift the viewer's gaze, forming new relationships within the space and inducing active appreciation.
ARTTOKEN, which operates Art Cube 2R2, announced that it is establishing a foundation that allows domestic artists to stand alongside contemporary artists on the international stage by expanding collaborations and exchange exhibitions with major overseas artists.
Hong Jisook, CEO of Art Cube 2R2, stated, “Ruckhäberle’s work shows how images can expand within space and sensation, starting from the basic elements of painting.” She added, “We hope this will serve as an opportunity to solidify an exhibition platform that engages with global artists.”
Meanwhile, the gallery's collection exhibition will also be presented in the existing exhibition spaces on the B1st and 6th floors. The collection exhibition operates on a reservation basis.
