Four Pioneering Korean Women Artists to Be Featured in Exhibition in Cheorwon

Artcube 2R2 Gallery Collaborates on Special Exhibition “Brilliant Light and Artistic Spirit” at Cheorwon Art House
The Cheorwon Cultural Foundation will present the special exhibition Brilliant Light and Artistic Spirit at Cheorwon Art House from June 10.
Organized by the Cheorwon Cultural Foundation and planned in collaboration with Artcube 2R2 Gallery, operated by Art Token Co., Ltd., the exhibition highlights the artistic achievements of four influential women artists who established distinctive artistic languages within the history of modern and contemporary Korean art: Park Rae Hyun, Chun Kyung Ja, Bang Hye Ja, and Yoon Suk Nam.
The exhibition follows a successful presentation of the same theme held at Artcube 2R2 in Seoul's Gangnam district last year, where it received positive reviews from both visitors and art professionals. Building on that success, the exhibition has been brought to Cheorwon through the initiative and cooperation of the Cheorwon Cultural Foundation, offering local audiences an opportunity to engage with the works of these acclaimed artists.
More than a showcase of women artists, Brilliant Light and Artistic Spirit seeks to reexamine the artistic accomplishments and cultural legacy of women who expanded the boundaries of Korean art through their own unique visual languages. The exhibition presents Park Rae Hyun's experimental abstractions and printmaking, Chun Kyung Ja's distinctive figurative paintings, Bang Hye Ja's philosophical exploration of light, and Yoon Suk Nam's narratives centered on women and memory.
The exhibition is particularly significant in that it brings a critically acclaimed exhibition from Seoul to a regional audience. By presenting works by major women artists who are not easily encountered outside major cultural centers, the exhibition aims to provide meaningful artistic experiences while promoting a broader understanding of the history and significance of Korean women artists.
Artcube 2R2 has actively introduced the value of Korean art through domestic and international art fairs and a wide range of curated exhibitions. This project further serves as an example of cultural exchange between the capital region and local communities, expanding access to high-quality exhibition content beyond Seoul.
Hong Ji-sook, CEO of Art Token and Artcube 2R2, stated, “This exhibition represents an extension of the women artists exhibition first presented in Seoul last year. It was conceived with the goal of sharing outstanding cultural content, often concentrated in the metropolitan area, with regional communities. We hope it will offer Cheorwon audiences a meaningful opportunity to explore the history of Korean women artists while contributing to the growth of the local cultural landscape.”
Brilliant Light and Artistic Spirit will be on view at Cheorwon Art House from June 10 to July 5, 2026. The exhibition is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with last admission at 5:30 p.m. The venue is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission is free.
