LACMA-Invited Artist In Lee's Solo Exhibition to be Held in Seoul

Re-focusing on Artist In Lee, Invited to LACMA International Exhibition

Special Solo Exhibition Held at Art Cube 2R2 in Seoul

[Herald Economic = Reporter Park Sang-hyun] A solo exhibition by Artist In Lee, who was invited to an international exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in the United States, will be held in Seoul.

ARTTOKEN, an art content solution company, announced that it will hold the solo exhibition 'Things Met on the Horizon' by this artist at Art Cube 2R2, located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 25th. The artist's solo exhibition, which has embodied modern sensibility and thought based on traditional Eastern painting materials, will run until June 10th.

This exhibition was held around the same time that the artist was invited to the international exhibition 'Line, Form, Qi: Calligraphic Art from the Fondation INK Collection' at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in the United States. The conceptual intent is to share a special time connecting Seoul and LA.

The 'Line, Form, Qi' exhibition was planned based on the 'Fondation INK Collection' held by LACMA. It is an exhibition that surveys the experimental works of 34 modern art and calligraphy artists from East Asia, including Korea, China, Japan, and Vietnam. Fondation INK is a collection of about 400 works focusing on the expansion of modern ink painting and calligraphy, donated to LACMA in 2018. This is the second exhibition planned after the "Ink Dreams" exhibition in 2021.

Curator Susanna Ferrell introduced, "East Asian calligraphy is rooted in tradition, but it has evolved into a very active and experimental art form," adding, "It is meaningful to introduce Artist In Lee's work to American audiences."

The artist's work has constructed a topography of thought by traversing between language, form, and material, based on the materiality and sensibility of Eastern painting. His works are held in major domestic and international institutions, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Jeju Museum of Modern Art, Kumho Museum of Art, Paradise Cultural Foundation, and LA Museum of Modern Art.

Hong Ji-suk, CEO of Art Cube 2R2, said, "The Seoul exhibition 'Things Met on the Horizon' captures the sensations and thoughts encountered between the concrete and abstract, the exterior and interior, and the mundane and the profound, centering on the concept of the 'horizon' where water and sky meet." She added, "This exhibition was planned as a venue to celebrate the achievements of a Korean artist invited to LACMA, together in Korea."

She further added, "It will be an exhibition where acquaintances and art lovers who have long supported Artist In Lee's work gather in one place to share this special moment connecting Seoul and Los Angeles."
