On the 11th, at the Event Space on the 2nd floor of Seibu Department Store, A Wing, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Young Japanese people in their 20s and 30s were viewing the Korea-Japan Digital Art Exhibition, 'GAZE: Us Beyond the Digitally Connected Gaze.' 12 digital artists from Korea and Japan participated in this exhibition, displaying works that reinterpreted the 'gaze' in the digital age.
The exhibition featured artists such as Go Ju-yeon, Wuolo (Choi Jeong-yoon), Wonseo (WONSEO), Pie (Chae Se-hee), Himnyawae (Chae Ah-yoon), Lindsay (Lindsay Park), Mimi (MeME), RailGuard, Shhan (SHHAN), mac (TOKYO LUV), yoh murata, and Ehara Saeko. Japanese visitors commented, "It's wonderful to be able to experience K-Art in Tokyo, following K-Dramas and K-Pop." They added, "This is a project that can promote cultural and artistic exchange and deepen mutual understanding between the two countries, especially by being able to meet artists from both Japan and Korea simultaneously."
The exhibition hall displayed works created using various digital media such as illustrations, photographs, AI, and video, presented on 29 digital monitors. It was praised for deeply moving visitors, especially because it was a bid to newly illuminate the relationship between the 'act of viewing' and people, while simultaneously expanding the possibilities of artistic expression through digital technology.

The 'Generative Coffee,' featured as a special project of the exhibition, was a project where AI designed unique coffee blends inspired by the artists' works. It collaborated with the Korean coffee brand Noto, allowing visitors to experience the world of each artist through a cup of coffee, thereby experiencing a new approach that connects digital art with everyday life.
The exhibition ran for seven days, from the 5th to the 11th, and included a special seminar on the 'Impact of Digital Art and New Technologies on Cultural Exchange.' Artists, industry experts, and planners participated.
This exhibition was held as part of the 'Shibuya Arts Festival.' The Shibuya Arts Festival stated, "We invited six cutting-edge companies that express art through digital and real means to plan an event where people can encounter the possibilities of the future." ARTTOKEN, which develops fine art into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in Korea, was the only invited party to plan this Korea-Japan Digital Art Exhibition.
The Shibuya Arts Festival is an annual art festival held in parks and department stores around Shibuya Station, famous for being one of the busiest streets in Tokyo. It is a festival planned with the aim of "filling Shibuya with art."
Hong Ji-sook, CEO of ARTTOKEN, which planned the exhibition, stated, "We plan to continue building a new art ecosystem and expanding the platform for global cultural exchange through projects like this." She added, "This exhibition demonstrated that digital art from Japan and Korea can communicate in a single language, and we will continue new attempts to connect with more people through art and technology."
ARTTOKEN introduces the works of domestic artists overseas through various international events, including the 'LA Art Show' in the US. CEO Hong Ji-sook said, "NFTs, which protect copyrights and are recognized for their asset value using blockchain technology, are a new platform for domestic artists to enter the global market. Our goal is to spark a K-Art boom worldwide."
CEO Hong commented, "Overseas, they didn't pay attention to our paintings because they thought Eastern paintings using wash paper didn't suit Western architecture." She added, "If we create Oriental paintings as NFTs and display them on TVs or digital frames, they can be highly successful overseas." ARTTOKEN also hosts offline exhibitions through the Art Cube 2R2 Gallery at 563 Seolleung-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
