Holding 'Dream of the butterfly'

'Craving' Theme of Artist Kwon Young-sul, Sought After in Germany and Hong Kong

ARTTOKEN announced that Kwon Young-sul's solo exhibition, 'Dream of the butterfly,' will be held until the 30th at SPACE 2R2 (hereinafter Space 2R2), located in Bongeunsa-ro, Samseong-dong, Seoul.

ARTTOKEN's gallery, Space 2R2, located in Samseong-dong, has hosted various planned exhibitions as an urban gallery space for 'popularizing art content,' simultaneously displaying both physical works and digital artworks by contemporary artists who are actively working globally, centered in Korea, since its soft opening in June.

This exhibition is planned in a three-part structure, 'Polaris- Craving- Dream of the butterfly,' themed around 'Craving' and 'Sublimation,' which Artist Kwon Young-sul has expressed through his works over the past 16 years.

'Polaris' symbolizes the starlight (dreams and hope) that illuminates life's journey, containing the stories of people who live for their dreams and those who live relying on dreams.

The subsequent 'Craving' works are expressions of human innate desires, which are the root of dreams. They reveal, without reservation, the places they want to go, the things they want to possess, and the psychological states they wish to dream of on the canvas, repeatedly layering and dismantling layers of imagination. 'Dream of the butterfly,' the core theme of the exhibition, is one of the representative works of the namesake artist, meaning a butterfly dream, and represents contemplation on the essence, value, and direction of life.

This exhibition, where visitors can experience the deep artistic world of Kwon Young-sul alongside new works, also features 'Dream of the butterfly' NFT ART works. The planner stated that experiencing both physical works and digital art simultaneously at the exhibition will be a special experience.

Hong Ji-sook, CEO of ARTTOKEN, said, "Although Artist Kwon Young-sul is a sought-after artist overseas in countries such as Germany, Dubai, and Japan, I felt it was regrettable that the public had difficulty accessing his works, so we reprocessed his existing paintings into digital artworks and NFT art so that more people can communicate with his work."
