ARTTOKEN-Samsung Electronics NFT TV App to be Released Next Month
The Electronic Times

ARTTOKEN, an art content solutions company (CEO Hong Ji-sook), is launching '2R2', a TV-based NFT platform service, in collaboration with Samsung Electronics, which is expected to be commercialized in the market as early as next month.
2R2 is a global art & NFT solution platform supporting various channels such as PC, TV, and mobile. It supports uploading works in various formats, up to 5GB, including images and videos. It has built its own feed system for artists and art lovers to communicate, and also allows for sharing information about online/offline exhibitions and artists.
Previously, ARTTOKEN participated in CES, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, alongside Samsung Electronics, and received significant attention for demonstrating the prototype of the 2R2 solution for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023.
Currently, the platform is already implemented as a web service, but it is being expanded to a TV channel to broaden the user experience (UX). The goal is to build an ecosystem that allows users to enjoy art in their daily lives by supporting NFT viewing and trading functions through a TV app.
NFT artist digital images were created at 4K resolution to maximize the performance of Samsung Electronics TVs. Selections were made from collections that encompass both artistic merit and popularity, and the platform is expected to be a canvas-like format where customers can view NFT works on the TV, as if hanging them in their living room. It is similar to the Netflix app, which displays various content illustrations during the TV app's playback standby state.
ARTTOKEN expects this attempt to yield similar effects to previous home shopping adoption cases. It suggests it could lead to a new daily art culture where art is purchased and consumed using a remote control. ARTTOKEN also received a strong response to the art contest it held this month with the Web3 art platform 'JOYN', with over 700 global artists participating.
In line with expanding the integration of art and IT technology, various offline events are also being held. They recently opened a special gallery space, 'Space 2R2', in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where media art is displayed on glass, and plan to hold 'NFT 2023 SEOUL' at COEX in September, focusing on virtual assets, Web3, and Security Token Offerings (STO). Speakers include Yoon Factric, President of Crypto.com Korea, and Cha In-hyuk, former CEO of CJ OliveNetworks.
Hong Ji-sook, CEO of ARTTOKEN, said, "I hope the 2R2 platform helps everyone easily and conveniently enjoy art, and serves as a signal for a paradigm shift in the art world."
