Jinjun Lee, Professor at KAIST Graduate School of Culture and Technology, a globally recognized new media artist and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Arts in the UK, stated at the 9th Korea Culture Contents Forum, hosted by Financial News on the 21st and focused on 'Art & Tech, The Future of the Culture Contents Industry,' that 'As the era of art and technology has arrived, modern artists are closer to futurists because they create art based on philosophical thinking and understanding technology.'

With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the convergence of art and technology has become a hot topic. Advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Extended Reality (XR), Metaverse, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) are combining with artistic imagination to open new horizons.

Change has already permeated our daily lives. District CEO Lee Seong-ho, who provides new spatial experiences using digital media technology, said, 'Immersive content is an innovative tool that fuses technology and art,' adding that 'It is expanding not only in education, tourism, and entertainment, but also in various industrial sectors such as manufacturing, distribution, medical, and aerospace.' He predicted that 'a future where virtual experiences become indistinguishable from real experiences will arrive as technologies like AI and AR develop, not just immersive content technology.'

The activities of the virtual human 'Loji,' who acts with actor Seo Jin, clearly demonstrate that the boundaries between reality and virtuality are dissolving. Baek Seung-yeop, CEO of Rocus X, said, 'Loji is actively engaged in roles ranging from advertising models to brand ambassadors,' and added, 'Recently, she has been active as a promotional ambassador for the 2030 Busan World Expo, alongside Lee Jung-jae and BTS.'

Changes in the art world are also noteworthy. With the rapid approach of the Web 3.0 era, NFTs are penetrating and advancing in the traditional art market. Hong Jisook, CEO of ARTTOKEN, predicted the growth potential of NFT art, stating, 'Less than five years after technologies related to crypto art were developed, it accounts for 16% of the entire art market.'

Kukgyeongbon, Director of the Immersive Content Promotion Unit at the Korea Creative Content Agency, pointed out, 'Now is the time to begin discussions on how to expand immersive content into metaverse content.' During the debate, voices from the field regarding government support policies were raised. Kang Dong-jin, Director of the Cultural Industry Policy Division at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, 'The government will prepare various support policies in stages.'
